What are the kinds of advertisements that are shown in youtube videos? 

There are four major kinds of advertisements on YouTube ads:

Skippable In-Stream Ads

These ads are played before or during a video and, as the title suggests, allows the viewer to skip after the first 5 seconds of the ad video. These ads are paid for when the viewer watches the first 30 seconds or the whole ad.

Non-Skippable In-Stream Ads (bumper ads are included in this category)

Since a lot of people admit that they skip most of the ads they see on YouTube, these types of ads play the entire advertisement. These ads usually last 15 to 20 seconds and aim for a larger reach.

Video Discovery Ads (also known as in-display ads)

This type of ad maximizes YouTube as a search engine and drives user engagement through organic search results. These types of ads can be found on YouTube’s home page, on top of the search results, and on top of a viewer’s recommended video.

Clicking on the ad would redirect the viewer to the entire promotional video. These ads serve as an option for viewers to watch should their relevance be closer to the intended search outcomes.

Non-Video Ads (e.g., overlays and banners)

These advertisements are options for brands that don’t have video ads. They only present call to action (CTA) buttons that direct the viewer to the brand’s website. These CTA links are mostly placed on relevant YouTube content that would encourage your viewers’ conversion.

Can I lose monetization on youtube? 

Once your monetization request has been approved, YouTube doesn’t immediately revoke your rights to monetize your channel—even if your channel drops below the threshold level. However, YouTube would reconsider this right if you haven’t uploaded a video for the past six months. This right will be revoked immediately, though, if you disobey any of YouTube’s community guidelines and policies.
