What makes ScreamingFrog different?
ScreamingFrog Sitemap Generator has an automatic sitemap generator that no other free tools can generate. It efficiently generates both small and very large websites while allowing you to analyze the results in real-time, which is critical for Google to crawl your site quickly. It also looks great with its new dashboard interface. It also allows you to generate multiple Sitemap files with a single click.
What is ScreamingFrog?
The ScreamingFrog is a free XML Sitemap generator. It assists webmasters by quickly producing up-to-date XML sitemaps. This program will also crawl all of the pages on any website you specify. ScreamingFrog's SEO Spider can be used to gather information about your website, detect broken links, and determine which of your pages are indexed by search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
How do I create an XML sitemap on ScreamingFrog?
The steps for creating an XML Sitemap are as follows:
Step 1:
Begin by crawling the website. Open the SEO Spider, enter or copy the URL of the website you want to crawl into the 'enter URL to spider' box, and click 'Start.'
Step 2:
Next, select 'Sitemaps > XML Sitemap'. This will display a variety of sitemap configuration options.
Step 3:
Click 'Pages' to include and exclude pages from the XML sitemap.
Step 4:
Select the Most Recently Modified Date > Choose 'Priority' for URLs > Choose 'Change Frequency' for URLs > Choose Images to Include in the Sitemap and then enter hreflang.
Step 5:
Finally, click 'Next' to generate your XML sitemap and submit it to Google.
Why are some URLs missing from my exported sitemap from ScreamingFrog sitemap generator?
This is due to the Screaming Frog SEO Spider's default settings. By default, canonicals, paginated, and indexable URLs are not included in the sitemap. To include them, go to Settings > Links and settings > Sitemaps tab > Additional Sitemap Options and select Indexes and Canonicals. Don't forget to save your changes.
Why can’t I generate an image sitemap from a list of images?
Since the ScreamingFrog supports the image sitemap generator via the new 'Image Sitemap' tab. However, if the tool does not support the Image sitemap protocol, which requires HTML, it will be unable to generate a list of images. The HTML page should contain links to images with relative paths (e.g., IMG src="/images/image1.jpg">) to generate the image sitemap.
What hardware is recommended on ScreamingFrog Sitemap Generator?
To crawl large websites, the ScreamingFrog Sitemap Generator tool recommends using a hard disk with an SSD and switching the SEO Spider to database storage mode. A 500GB SSD will suffice, but a 1TB SSD is recommended if you plan on doing a lot of large crawls. And Memory has 8GB of RAM, which will allow you to crawl approximately 200,000 URLs in-memory storage mode. This should allow you to crawl approximately 2-5 million URLs in database storage mode.
What operating systems does the ScreamingFrog Sitemap Generator run on?
The ScreamingFrog free sitemap generator has been designed for maximum compatibility and efficiency in order to provide its users with the greatest ease of use. To run the SEO Spider, you must have a 64-bit operating system. It's compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
What integrations are available for ScreamingFrog Sitemap Generator?
Screaming Frog is a free SEO tool that crawls a website and generates a report that can be used to identify issues with a website's performance and SEO. For greater insight, Screaming Frog can integrate with Google Analytics, Search Console, and PageSpeed Insights APIs to retrieve user and performance data for all URLs in a crawl.
Does ScreamingFrog analyse page titles and meta descriptions during a crawl?
Yes. Screaming Frog SEO Spider has some fantastic features. One of them is the ability to examine titles and descriptions on a per-page basis. When you've finished crawling, click the "Titles and Meta Descriptions" link at the top of your screen. This feature is useful for identifying pages that lack titles/descriptions or that use keyword-stuffed titles.
Can I schedule crawls to run on ScreamingFrog?
Yes, you can schedule crawls to run at predetermined intervals and have crawl data automatically exported to any location, including Google Sheets. This is especially useful if you want to track changes to your website over time, like if you make regular changes to your website's navigation. Alternatively, you can completely automate via the command line.
